Robert Shaw Heaton , 59 died at Parris Island earlier this week after being found by staffmembers at the baseSouth Carolina Marine installation. His death is now another tragedy in 2026 at the South Carolina basefollowing recent incidents at the site. The armed forces confirmed the tragedy but gave no details. Hilton Head Island Packet first reported the incident, whilelocal undertakers handled arrangementsmade for the service. Police continue to investigate yet offer no explanation so far.
