Ed Harris complained at the start about his limited part in the spin-off in Dutton Ranch, the Yellowstone spin-off. He thought the role was meaningless and insisted on exiting. Harris told Variety, 'bluntly Get me the f- out of here' as he exited the set. He later agreed to return for Season 2 to return for Season 2. The show’s boss adjusted the plot and gave his character more to do. That change led Harris choose to stay. Deadline now says he will reprise the role.
