Carlton have acquired GWS Giants midfielder Lachie Whitfield during the AFL trade period, with the deal confirmed on 13 October 2026. Five picks changed hands in the transaction.

Whitfield has been a long-serving Giant over his career and is regarded as one of the competition's more dependable midfielders. He brings plenty of experience to a Carlton midfield that has been building steadily in recent seasons.

His move to Carlton ranks among one of the more significant trades of the 2026 period. The Giants will receive the five picks as compensation for losing a player who gave them many years at the highest level.

For Carlton, landing a midfielder of Whitfield's calibre is a strong addition heading into the next campaign. The deal reflects the club's ambition as they push up the ladder in 2027.
