The crew of The Rookie has apologised for the abrupt cliffhanger ending to Season 8. Fans had been left hanging after the final scene dropped out. Creator Alexi Hawley revealed at Comic-Con that Season 9's premiere will be extended above the usual length. Nathan Fillion said that filming for Season Nine kicks off on a date in early August.
